ANGELICA ROOT (Angelica archangelica) ~ Praised for its virtues since antiquity. Assists in strengthening the heart, stimulates circulation and the immune system. It has been used for centuries in Europe for bronchial ailment, respiratory infections, cough, a general lung tonic, stimulates the lymphatic system (especially to detoxify after an illness), indigestion, gas, and to stimulate the appetite. As a urinary antiseptic it may assist cystitis, improve dull and congested skin, bruises, psoriasis, anemia, a tonic to the liver and spleen, controls uric acid, favors pepsin and hydrochloric acid production, indigestion, used for colic, restores sense of smell, fatigue, migraine, nervous tension and stress-related disorders. May be antispasmodic, diuretic, expectorant, and may have bactericidal and fungicidal properties. It is beneficial for contagious diseases such as typhus, malaria, diphtheria, cholera, and yellow fever. Assists premenstrual tension, menopause and rheumatic conditions.
Emotionally: It has been used to bring memory back to the point of origin before trauma or anger was experienced. It assists in releasing or letting go of negative feelings. Promotes feelings of balance, assists with heartache, gives incentive to overcome difficulties and causes distaste for alcohol.
