Description

CLOVE BUD (Eugenia caryophyllata):  May assist the respiratory system, toothache, pain, sore throat, infectious diseases, memory deficiency, impotence, and infected wounds. Assists athlete’s foot, arthritis, rheumatism, sprains, colic, nausea, colds, flu, cancer, Hodgkin’s, dental infections, virus of the nerves (MS), cystitis, diarrhea, amoebic dysentery, viral hepatitis, bacterial colitis, cholera, sinusitis, tuberculosis, hypertension, thyroid dysfunction and fatigue.  Anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, antiseptic, anti-fungal, anti-tumoral and anti-parasitic.  Also used to help stop smoking.

Emotional Influence:  Sense of healing, improved memory, protection, and courage.

Modern Use:  One of the best known natural anesthetics.  High in Phenols which bacteria and virus detest.  Thus, used for tooth aches and in tobacco for the numbing effect to minimize the bitter tobacco taste.  Paradoxically, it is used to stop smoking also. 

Traditional Application:  For sore throat or aching tooth, mix 2 drops in ½ c. water and gargle and/or swish around in mouth.
